Lash lamination aftercare: how to make it last

Lash lamination lasts longer and looks neater when you follow a few simple rules afterward. The first day matters most, while the solution finishes setting the new curl. After that the care is minimal, but it is exactly what keeps your lashes lifted and tidy for weeks.

The first hours after your appointment

Right after lamination, the solution needs time to lock in the new curl completely. Your lashes are especially delicate during this window, so give them a little extra care for the first hours and the first day:

• keep your lashes dry for the first 12 hours;
• don’t rub your eyes or touch your lashes for the first 2 hours;
• skip the sauna, steam room, and pool for the first 24 hours;
• avoid harsh facial cleansers around the eyes;
• don’t use lash growth serums.

All of these limits are temporary. By the next day your lashes will have fully fluffed out, and you can go back to your usual routine.

Everyday care

Once the first day is behind you, looking after laminated lashes is easy:

• wash your face gently, without harsh scrubbing, and pat your eyes dry with a towel instead of rubbing;
• try not to sleep face-down in your pillow, so the curl doesn’t get creased;
• brush your lashes with a clean spoolie every couple of days to keep them lying evenly;
• around the eyes, choose oil-free products: oil softens the curl and shortens the effect.

You usually won’t need mascara after lamination: your lashes already look lifted and darker, especially if you had them tinted. If you do want to add some, regular mascara is fine, but it is best to skip waterproof formulas and the removers that go with them.

What shortens the effect

Lamination fades fastest from oils and rich creams around the eyes, from rubbing your eyes, and from frequent contact with hot steam. If you want the curl to hold for the full few weeks, those are the things to avoid.

How long it lasts and when to repeat

On average, lamination holds for 4 to 8 weeks. The effect fades gradually, along with your natural lash cycle: older lashes shed and new ones grow in straight.
